Energy

Egypt is a rich country in energy resources. It is the largest oil producer in Africa among the non-OPEC countries and occupies the second place in producing dry natural gas on the continent, according to the EIA (United State Energy Information Administration). However, The production of energy in Egypt has declined since 2009 to reach 82,046 ktoe in 2012. This is due to the increasingly high demand of energy, which resulted in a shortage in the natural gas supply and oil production. This shortage has led to frequent blackouts in electricity across the country.
